Mississippi Aquarium opens new dolphin encounter
The Mississippi Aquarium is letting visitors get up close and personal with their resident bottlenose dolphins through their new dolphin encounter.
The new dolphin encounter allows participants to feed and touch the bottlenose dolphins and includes an educational presentation before the encounter.
Visitors will get to know the animal care team members as they explain the level of expert care that bottlenose dolphins receive at the aquarium.
Meredith Horn, vice president of guest experience and education, tells News 25 the dolphin encounter is a great addition to the aquarium. “Many folks don’t realize, but the bottlenose dolphin is actually the state’s water mammal. So, we are very proud to have one of Mississippi’s keystone species. The encounter includes some education because of course the Mississippi Aquarium was founded on one of the three pillars which was education, conservation, and community. So, we think this is going to be a great tie-in.”
The dolphin encounter is available daily at 2:15 p.m. starting April 30th. The cost for the encounter is $32 for members and $36 plus admission for non-members.
