Mississippi airports granted $4.81 million for improvements
Nearly five million dollars in grant money is being awarded to Mississippi airports by the United States Department of Transportation on behalf of the Federal Aviation Administration.
The Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport is earmarked to get more than $300,000 of this money. U.S. Senators Roger Wicker and Cindy Hyde-Smith made a joint announcement this week, calling the grants a significant investment in airport improvements in Mississippi.
The head of the U.S. Department of Transportation says the grant money is a significant investment in airport improvements in Mississippi that will fund construction and rehabilitation projection, ultimately maintaining high levels of safety while traveling by air.
In Gulfport, the $319,500 the airport receives will be used to update the master plan study.
