Mississippi Actress Wants State Flag Changed

Aunjanue Ellis, a Mississippi actress, is putting her support behind a movement to change the Mississippi state flag.
This is the second round for the “Stand up-Take it Down” rally in Mississippi. Supporters gathered today in Jackson.
The state flag isn’t a point of pride for Ellis and she’s refusing to film anymore projects in Mississippi until the flag comes down. Her production company was set to film a movie in Mississippi next year, but they’re now moving it to Louisiana.
Aunjanue Ellis said, “I don’t think this is about blame. Just think that we have to see this as an opportunity. This is an opportunity for us to re-brand ourselves as Mississippians. I think we should all be excited about that rather than feeling like we are being attacked.”
Ellis has organized a coalition of support within the film and entertainment industry. She appeared in the film “The Help”.
