Missing Alzheimer’s Patient Found

A missing man from Liberty, Mississippi was found early this morning in a wooded area near Flint Creek Park in Stone County.
T.J. Hughes, a 69-year-old who suffers from Alzheimer’s, broke down on Highway 49 in Pike County on Saturday afternoon. He was dropped off at a Stone County gas station and then wandered for 3 miles until he knocked on a stranger’s door for help.
Before the police arrived at the home, Hughes had already left and found himself lost in Stone County. Police found him in the woods near Flint Creek Water Park, a mile and a half away from the home he stopped at, about 40 hours after he was declared missing.
Hughes was dehydrated from walking for miles out in the heat but he had no physical injuries.
Officials say Hughes is currently at Stone County Hospital with his family.
