Ministry Helping the Homeless Looking for a Home

An Ocean Springs ministry that helps the homeless is now homeless. The organization is calling on the community to help.
The building is on Government Street and is where the Living Well Ministry Day Center used to feed nearly 50 people in need on a weekly basis.
The ministry’s center was a place to go where the homeless could eat warm cooked meals, get haircuts, shower up, wash their clothes, and even get help with finding a job or their medical issues.
When the building was sold, the program had to shut its doors. Reverend Elijah Mitchell said, “I think it keeps the homeless community, number one, out of the streets, out of the businesses from the time we open. It’s also a safe place where they can do their day-to-day out of the cold, out of the heat.”
At times more than 50 people slept over night at the old building and about 20 used the showers. Reverend Mitchell is looking for a new place to house the ministry or the financial support to get there.
The Living Well Ministry can be contacted through their Facebook page at Living Well OS.
