MHSAA still targeting June 1st return
It’s been close to a month since the Mississippi High School Activities Association closed up shop on seven different spring sports.
Today, the governing body released its first update since April 15th.
For the first time since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, it’s the old adage “no news is good news.” Obviously, there’s nothing that can salvage the seasons already lost due to COVID-19, but according to Monday’s MHSAA press release June 1st is still the target date for the start of off-season activities and summer sports.
Per MHSAA rules, competition, practices, and tryouts for sports and activities are not allowed while schools are closed.
Baseball, softball, golf, tennis, track and field, powerlifting, and archery were the spring sports affected by the virus.
