MGCCC Women’s Basketball: Lady Bulldogs Working off the Holidays with Two-A-Days
By the time the Mississippi Gulf Coast women’s basketball team takes the court for its first game of the new year on Saturday, it will have been one month since MGCCC’s last game prior to the holidays.
It’ll be against the same team, a rematch with Delgado up at Perk. Back in December the Lady Bulldogs squandered a 16 point halftime lead to the opposition and they’ve had to sit on that loss over the extended Christmas holiday before returning to practice for the first time yesterday.
To get back in the swing of things, MGCCC is now working through some two-a-days to shake off the rust. MGCCC Point Guard Whitney Williams said, “Well, no one really likes two-a-days, but we have to do what we’ve got to do to get ourselves back in a groove and ready for the season.”
MGCCC Women’s Head Basketball Coach Jason Conner said, “We’ve gone two-a-days and they’re sore and they aren’t liking life right now, but we’ve got to get them to that point to maybe try to keep from getting injured or something else as we start play.”
Gulf Coast and Delgado tip things off at 4 p.m. on Saturday from the Weathers-Wentzell Center.
