MGCCC wins 16th MACJC title, to play for National Championship
For more than a month now, the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College football team has been ranked number one in the nation.
The Bulldogs responded to the recognition with five more wins, capped off by the program’s 16th ever state title on Saturday.
Gulf Coast will get to continue the dream season with one last dance in the NJCAA Championship Game.
The Bulldogs will be taking on another undefeated squad in Lackawanna, located in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
MGCCC punched its ticket with a 22-19 win over fourth ranked Northwest, their first MACJC crown since 2010.
The Bulldogs are now 11-0 and will be going for a perfect season when the National Championship Game kicks off Thursday, December 5th in Pittsburgh, Kansas.
WXXV Play of the Day goes to Bulldogs Quarterback Chance Lovertich. As a result of Saturday’s win, the Jackson Prep alum is now a combined 58-1 as a starter between high school and college. His only loss came during a 2016 homecoming game against Presbyterian Christian School out of Hattiesburg and he’s undefeated at Gulf Coast.
