MGCCC/West Harrison alum Brandon Parker drafted by Atlanta Braves
In 2018, Brandon Parker set the junior college baseball world on fire, breaking the Mississippi Gulf Coast home run record with 24 and leading the entire nation with 81 RBI. He wasn’t draft eligible at the time, but now he is.
Today, Parker was taken by the Atlanta Braves with the 307th overall pick in the tenth round. Parker entered the draft as the 28th ranked JuCo prospect, according to Perfect Game, and is well-deserving as a day two selection.
After that breakout freshman campaign at Perk, Parker was named NJCAA Division II Player of the Year. With some regression to be expected, Parker still picked up right where he left off as a sophomore, hitting .359 to go along with 48 RBI and a team leading 14 dingers.
Parker is currently signed with Dallas Baptist University as is his younger brother, Tate, leaving the older brother with a decision to make during the coming days.
