MGCCC partners with Singing River to get more shots in arms

Open to the public, anyone could walk into the MGCCC Jackson County Campus cafeteria to get their COVID vaccine today.

Available on site were the Johnson and Johnson and Pfizer COVID vaccines. From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. shots were administered to the public for free.

Although there was not an overwhelming amount of people in line to get the shot, Singing River expects upwards of 50 newly vaccinated Mississippians following this event.  SRHS System Director of Pharmacy Lisa Fratesi said, “We are just really pushing anyone who has been on the fence to come out and get their vaccination. We are seeing more sick younger people, mostly unvaccinated in our hospitals and our healthcare system. It’s just critical that we get this vaccination to anyone who hasn’t received it.”

Singing River will be at all of the MGCCC campuses this week. Tomorrow they will be on the Perkinston campus as students move into their dorms from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
