MGCCC Commencement Ceremony

Caps and gowns were present at the Coast Coliseum tonight for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s 2018 commencement ceremony.

MGCCC graduated over 125 students in the adult education, MIBEST, and EDGE programs. All of these programs are used for students to earn their high school equivalency diploma.

Two sisters who were homeschooled, Brittany and Emily Blackwell, are graduating together and say they are happy to have made it to this point and their hearts are filled over joy. “It’s very gratifying. I would say it’s been a journey. We’re very happy to be here now and we’re very excited we get to walk up there, well not together at the same time, but you know.”

“Yea, I’m excited. I get to do it with my sister because we’re just so close and it’s good to do it together.”

Emily says she is going to the Mississippi University for Women to major in nursing and Brittany is going to the University of Southern Mississippi for forensic biology.
