MGCCC and University of South Alabama sign memorandum of agreement

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College has signed a memorandum of agreement with the University of South Alabama.

Through this agreement, the two schools can better leverage resources and help more students seeking to further their educations.

When these students graduate from MGCCC, the partnership will provide a smooth transition for them to continue their studies at USA.

In 2016, Pathway USA was created to provide opportunities to students who may prefer to being their college journey at a community college and then transition to USA. MGCCC President Dr. Mary Graham said, “Students aren’t stagnant. They are mobile. They move. They want to cross lines. So, we want them to have those opportunities. So, we don’t limit them. If they want to transfer out of state then we make sure we have a strong articulation agreement.”

USA President Jo Bonner said, “This is about our way of life and education is so important to that. So to have this partnership and to renew it through this articulation agreement today with MGCCC and USA is like shaking hands with an old friend with a commitment to brighter days and a brighter future.”

In July 2021, MGCCC and USA signed a memorandum of understanding offering an early acceptance for MGCCC’s associate degree nursing students to enroll in USA’s registered nurse to Bachelor of Science nursing degree program.
