Mercedes-Benz Superdome getting new sponsor starting in 2021
In the days, weeks, and months that followed Hurricane Katrina, the Superdome became a symbol of something much more than New Orleans Saints football rather an American comeback story.
All these years later, that symbol is gonna have a new symbol.
According to WDSU, Mercedes-Benz will discontinue its sponsorship with the Dome when the current naming rights deal ends in 2021.
The German auto maker became the first sponsor in Superdome history when they agreed to a 10-year deal in 2011, worth between $50 and $60 million.
Going forward the company will focus solely on its naming rights deal with Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
That leaves the door open for the Saints and state leaders to find a new sponsor by the time the current agreement lapses.
