Memorial for Lt. Michael Boutte at Hancock County Sheriff’s Department

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department is allowing civilians to pay their respects to fallen officer Lt. Michael Boutte outside of their department building.

Flowers and candles were placed on Lt. Boutte’s squad vehicle to show their appreciation. Flags were placed at half-staff as a sign of respect for their brother in blue.

Civilians who did not want to speak on camera shared countless stories about Lt. Boutte, including sitting for hours to persuade a person not to commit suicide.

The residents say he will be truly missed and thanked him for everything he has done for the community.

Services for Lt. Boutte are scheduled for next Tuesday, February 9th at the Bay St. Louis Community Center.

Visitation is from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., followed by a Catholic service lasting until 12:30.

A procession is set for after the service. At 2:30 Lt. Boutte will be laid to rest at the Veterans’ Memorial in Biloxi with immediate family only.
