Memorial holds COVID-19 vaccine event in the fight against omicron

Team Memorial continues to do everything it can to keep COVID numbers down this winter season.

Memorial hosting a pop-up vaccine site today at the Gaston Point Community Center. The team opened up this pop-up to try to reach as many community members as possible who have trouble reaching vaccine clinics.

Tomorrow, the team will host another pop-up site at the Frank G. Gruich Community Center in Biloxi.

Moderna and Pfizer will be offered at this event.

The team says now is as important as ever to get vaccinated due to a variety of reasons. Nurse Practitioner Erika Lett said, “It’s definitely more important now. Like you said, the new variant is coming out, winter’s coming out. You know we have flu season hitting us right now, so we are out here at Gaston Point Community Center trying to reach members in the community that aren’t able to make it out to the different sites or over to the hospital. We’re trying to reach people where they are at the community center.”

Booster shots as well as first and second doses will be available tomorrow at the pop-up.
