MDOC Inmate Policy Postponed

A new policy affecting inmates and their families across Mississippi has been postponed. That policy would limit inmates’ visitation to only immediate family.
Last week, Mississippi Department of Corrections officials announced the change that would limit inmates’ visits from only ten members of their family, no pastors, friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, fiancés or anyone outside of their immediate family.
Officials prompted this change due to security issues that are currently being investigated and say this policy could be re-evaluated afterward.
There is still no word on why it was postponed, but Mississippi pastors, the ACLU and Southern Poverty Law Center have openly spoken out against the new policy.
