Biloxi mayor surveys damage
Biloxi Mayor Andrew ‘FoFo’ Gilich surveyed the damage from Hurricane Nate Sunday morning.
Mayor Gilich spoke with Biloxi law enforcement about the efforts from first responders, plus the cooperation from Biloxi residents staying inside during the curfew hours. Mayor Gilich noted the major issues as sand and debris along the beach, plus some fallen trees in different neighborhoods.
Overall he says the city is messy in areas, but Biloxi dodged a bullet. “We were just kind of watching it happen and when that big feeder band came in and rumbled up we were real pleased to say hey this is it, so once it goes midnight it’s an early end to our little situation.”
The Lighthouse Pier has been blocked off by caution tape because of the damage it sustained during the storm.
Winds in Biloxi were clocked at around 85 miles an hour during Hurricane Nate.
