Mayor Quave on the State of D’Iberville

At this morning’s State of the City Address in D’Iberville, Mayor Rusty Quave touched on several projects that all point towards progress.

Mayor Quave gave updates on several ongoing and upcoming infrastructure projects and highlighted the recent construction of a nine million dollar sportsplex facility on Highway 15.

Mayor Quave also told News 25 that work is underway on a $4.5 million police safety center on Lamey Bridge Road and answered questions about the future of the long-awaited Galleria Shopping Center. “We’ve already started on phase one of the infrastructure for that project. If we sign a contract in 60 or 90 days what we will do is either addendum to the contract that’s there or probably go out for bid to finish. That’s about a $12 million road improvement that’s gonna go in there, but you’re talking about bringing in an additional 30,000 or 40,000 people a day to that particular shopping center.”

Quave has held his office for 25 years, but the Coast’s longest serving mayor also announced that this will be his final term as mayor. He’ll step down in 2023.
