Mayor King presents veto at press conference

Today at a press conference, Moss Point Mayor Mario King presented a 564 page veto against a policy presented by an alderman on July 16th.

That original policy presented by Alderman Sherwood Bradford would cut his pay if he doesn’t make reforms.

During the press conference, Mayor King said this policy put forth was a direct intention to hurt his name and his family. He also mentioned that he feels the board let him down by putting on this policy and lawsuits before coming to him.

In the veto presented, Mayor King denies all allegations against him within.

King says the new policy within the veto was made in good faith and says everything stated is fact based. Mayor King said, “I am a weak mayor. The board is considered strong because they have the legislative authority to hire, fire, and implement policies like this. This administration and this form of government only work when the board and the mayor work simultaneously together.”

Mayor King says they will discuss the veto in more detail at Pelican’s Landing on July 25th.
