Mayor King files appeal on veto

Today, Mayor Mario King packed another punch in the Moss Point city battle between the mayor’s office and the board of aldermen.

Mayor King authored the nearly 20-page appeal himself that was submitted to the Circuit Court of Jackson County. The document included a recap of events that led to the initial administrative policy issued by the board of aldermen to make significant changes to policy, including alteration to Mayor King’s salary.

Also included in the appeal is the lack of addressing the veto submitted on July 23rd. Last week, the board overrode the veto.

Mayor King says he hopes his actions speak volumes to the entire community about advocating for yourself. “I just want to show people that you can do this and you can fight in a way that’s professional and that’s ethical. You don’t have to go about it the wrong way. There is a way to do it. There’s a right way to do it and hopefully the court sees that the relief I’m asking for is necessary.”
