Mayor Gilich Wants new Gate for Keesler
Biloxi Mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich will meet with the City Council tomorrow to discuss a major project for the City of Biloxi and Keesler Air Force Base.
Mayor Gilich is aiming to move forward on a new gate for Keesler Air Force Base on the west end of Division Street. The city would receive $5 million in funding toward the new main entrance at the Air Force base.
Vincent Creel with the City of Biloxi believes that this gate will address a lot of issues for Biloxi and Keesler. “It allays a lot of the challenges that they have had for years with the White Avenue gate. It’s a partnership not only between Biloxi and Keesler, but with our state and federal partners. It’s taken a lot of work to bring all of the people to the table, but he’s been successful in doing that and it’s a start.”
Creel adds that any construction that would be needed on Keesler’s property will be the responsibility of the Air Force base.
