Margaritaville Resort hosted nacho eating contest fundraiser

Over the weekend, the Margaritaville Resort in Biloxi had an interesting way to raise money for charity.

The resort hosted a nacho eating contest with all proceeds benefiting the Biloxi chapter of the Tunnel to Towers charity.

Eight contestants had 15 minutes to eat as many nachos as they could. The winner of the contest would receive free volcano nachos for a year, a weekend stay at the resort, and the nacho eating contest belt.

Bridgett Lopez with the Tunnel to Towers Foundation tells News 25 all about the charity. “The proceeds from the event will benefit the Tunnel to Towers Foundation which proceeds go towards helping our military and our first responders.”

“Margaritaville Resort Biloxi from the beginning, they have a heart for the community because families are what we’re all about here. We see the locals come in week after week, coming to spend their family time with us and that is hugely important to us. It strikes the heart of everyone here and we really love to have the opportunity to love on the local community.”

The foundation will hold their annual 5K and Stair Climb this September. For those interested in registering, visit their website at tunnel2towers.org.
