Many companies hiring during COVID-19 pandemic

The official unemployment rate last month was 14.7 percent, the highest rate since the Great Depression.

Many people are out of a job due to the coronavirus. Despite layoffs nationwide, many companies are still hiring.

Many local places are currently hiring. The owner of Capitan Al’s tells News 25 they are currently looking to fill positions at their restaurant in Gulfport.

Many national chains have been hiring during this pandemic as well. Walmart said they are looking to fill thousands of positions nationwide and Lowes is looking to hire many seasonal positions in D’Iberville.

Joy Esqueda with Express Employment Professionals said, “We have a lot of opportunities. Right now hospitality is booming with the casinos set to open up in a few short days. We are also looking for a lot of industrial. There are a lot of administrative positions as well as skill trades.”

Express Employment Professionals is open five days a week, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
