Man suffers serious injuries after crash in Jackson County

This afternoon a motorcycle accident on Interstate 10 in Jackson County has left a man with life-threatening injuries.
According to Highway Patrol Spokesman Chase Elkins, the man was thrown from his motorcycle while heading westbound on Interstate 10 near mile marker 52. Elkins says at around 1:15 p.m. the man veered off the road to the right and was ejected from his motorcycle. He was then airlifted to USA Medical Center in Mobile.
Witnesses on scene say they jumped into action when they saw the crash. Former EMT Donnie Welch saw the wreck and stopped to help. He said, “He was flipping and what he did after that, he was laying pretty much where you can see the end of his bike and his head was underwater for a couple of minutes, so we got him up and between the three of us we got him out of the water.”
Howard Rowell saw the wreck and jumped in to help. He said, “He wasn’t very coherent at all. I could only get one of his eyes to blink. I held his head in case it was broke until the ambulance got here. After a couple of minutes, getting his pulse and his respirations, I started asking questions and he started getting coherent.”
One witness tells News 25 the man began speaking. He was airlifted from the scene by a helicopter.
