Man struck and killed by train in Biloxi
A pedestrian was killed while crossing train tracks in Biloxi late this morning.
Police tell News 25 a man was walking across the tracks on the intersection of Eisenhower Drive just before 11 a.m. when the train fatally struck him.
The train came to an emergency stop shortly after the incident, prompting closures of railroad intersections at Eisenhower Drive and Debuys Road.
After first responders cleared the scene, CSX was able to get the train rolling again shortly after 1 o’clock.
The man’s identity has not been released.
Biloxi PD advises pedestrians to cross with caution on the railroad tracks. Biloxi PD Public Information Officer Jason Cummings said, “Use the actual railways where the vehicles cross at the intersection instead of crossing in between the road, go down to the railroads and on the rails and cross there with the vehicles. If you see a train coming, stop, let them pass. Don’t try to beat the train.”
The Biloxi Police Department and CSX are continuing to investigate the incident.
