Man Killed in Front of Madison County Circuit Courthouse

Police have confirmed the man shot and killed in front of the Madison County Circuit Courthouse in Canton had a long history of drug arrests.
Just before 9 a.m., the victim was shot in the chest and killed. In a press conference, the Madison County district attorney said the shooting victim was at the courthouse to turn down a plea deal. The DA says the victim was facing drug charges based on an arrest by the Madison County Narcotics Division. Witnesses identified the man killed as Kendrick Brown.
Sheriff Randy Tucker says Madison County deputies rushed out of the courthouse after the shooting. He says the gunman laid down his weapon and surrendered peacefully. Twenty four year old William Wells has placed under arrest.
A bail hearing is set for Wells tomorrow morning.
