Man hit by train in Biloxi identified

Harrison County Deputy Coroner Brian Switzer identified the man who was struck by a train Friday night as 68-year-old Douglas Bumstead of Tennessee.

The Biloxi Police Department responded to a train pedestrian fatality in the area of Porter Avenue and the railroad tracks Friday night.

Switzer tells News 25 the conductor saw Bumstead walk in front of the train and onto the tracks and deployed his brakes. Bumstead was pronounced dead on scene and died of blunt force trauma.

The coroner’s office is still waiting on a toxicology report and the investigation into this incident is still ongoing.
