Man, child shot at family gathering in Moss Point

Moss Point is investigating the shooting of a family while they were gathered in the yard.

An adult male and an 8-year-old child were shot in the incident.

Moss Point Police said the incident occurred in the 4000 block of Hilma Street about 4:30 p.m.

Witnesses said a silver Honda with dark tinted windows stopped in front of the home and gunmen got out of the vehicle and began shooting toward the family that was gathered outside in the yard and on the carport.

The gathering was of adults and small children visiting the residents.

The gunmen also fired at other vehicles in the area. Five vehicles and two homes were hit by the gunfire.

Detectives are following leads and ask for the public’s assistance in locating those involved.
