Man Arrested for Burning Down Greenville Church

A man is now behind bars for burning down a Greenville church on November 1st.
Greenville police arrested 45-year-old Andrew McClinton of Leland and charged him with one count of first degree arson of a place of worship.
McClinton is accused of burning down Hopewell Missionary Baptist, an African American church in Greenville. The fire was investigated as a hate crime. Authorities say 80 percent of the building was destroyed and “vote Trump” was spray painted on the side of the building.
McClinton is being held in the Washington County Detention Center awaiting an initial court appearance.
