Mammothon at Keesler Air Force Base
Breast cancer awareness is more than just a month, it’s an initiative to promote breast health all the time.
Finding the time to schedule a mammogram often keeps women away. That is why the 81st Medical Group at Keesler Air Force Base will host its sixth annual Mammothon October 27th from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Mammothon will take place at the Keesler Medical Center and anyone who can get on base can stop by and get a free mammogram. Medical Director for Radiology Lt. Colonel Matthew Barchie said, “We search for lots of different cancers at these events. We found up to three breast cancers in one event, but we always find something. We will have our dentist out here looking at the mouth for oral cancer. We will have our OBGYNs doing pap smears looking for cervical cancer. Our GI doctors are signing people up for colonoscopy.”
Department of Defense beneficiaries and dependents can take advantage of this walk-in service event.
