Making Connections Teacher Conference

The Making Connection Conference is back at the Coast Coliseum this week. Nearly 2,000 teachers from around the state are on the Coast for the annual conference. Mississippi Power is sponsoring about 150 STEM teachers from our service territory by covering their registration fees through their “Barton Award”. Making connections conference includes a vendor hall, over 125 presentations, classroom sessions and multiple speakers including Dr. Carey Wright, the State Superintendent of Education. This conference is a learning and networking experience for these teachers that goes beyond the classroom.

Billie Fick, a Conference Organizer says, “They’re in the classroom for 180 days pretty much within their school district and here they come and they get to experience other districts, visit with people and they learn from each other. We all know we learn from each other.”

This is the seventh year they have held this convention and have already started planning for next year!
