Making a Democracy Work Luncheon at IP Casino and Resort

The Mississippi League of Women Voters met for its sixth annual Making Democracy Work Luncheon with special guest speaker Karen Sock.

The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government. Today, as part of the Mississippi Gulf Coast chapter’s annual fundraising event, casino executive Karen Sock adressed members and elected officials as she shared an important message. “We live in the greatest nation in the world and the democratic process works and people must be educated and engaged and they must vote. Women, people of color, all over this nation have fought for the right to vote and we must take that right very seriously and make sure that we don’t miss an opportunity.”

Despite the name, the League of Women Voters welcomes men as well. For more information or to get involved, you can visit the website http://www.lwv-ms.org/GC_League.html.
