Maintained parks in Jackson County to reopen today

The parks in Jackson County reopened this morning.

The parks will be open from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. each day. Those who plan to use the parks are asked to follow some new guidelines.

No more than 20 people are allowed in the same area at once and you must maintain social distancing guidelines.

You’re also asked to sanitize your hands before and after you enter the park and if you feel sick please stay home. Ocean Springs Mayor Shea Dobson said, “I think it is overall a good thing. We have been trying to get back to normal as much as possible. I know everyone is at the very least is ready to get out and stretch their legs a little bit. I think it’s a good thing. We just have to stay diligent and stay safe, but I think it’s ultimately a good thing.”

Playgrounds, walking tracks, fitness equipment, athletic fields, tennis courts and pavilions will be open, but athletic fields will be open for practice only and no tournaments will be allowed at this time.
