Main Street Heroes Award Winner

The 2019 State Mississippi Main Street Association Awards are out and the Coast is well represented.

One local Ocean Springs man won one of the special awards. Chic Cody, along with seven other Mississippians, won the Main Street Hero Award!

This prize represents someone in the community who goes above and beyond and focuses on the four main points of Main Street: organization, promotion, design, and economic vitality.

Cody has been a trailblazer with Cruisin’ the Coast and the Peter Anderson Festival in Ocean Springs. Cody had no idea he was even nominated so he says it was a huge surprise. “I was completely taken by surprise. I had no idea. In fact, they wouldn’t even tell me what the award was. I had never heard of the Hero Award. It’s not one, it’s not just Chic Cody, it’s a team effort and without that team I wouldn’t be able to do anything.”

Biloxi Mayor ‘FoFo’ Gilich was one of the other seven Main Street Hero recipients.
