Lynn Meadows and Memorial team up for COVID-19 vaccine event
Memorial Health partnered with the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center for the evening, inviting the public to get vaccinated.
At the Discovery Center from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. vaccines for people 12 and up were available. Though children were emphasized at this event, shots were available for everyone.
The center even sent patients home with boxes of Chick-Fil-A to incentivize visits.
Dr. Jimmy Dimitriades says that getting the vaccine not only prevents the disease, but dampens its symptoms.
Vaccinated people who contract COVID are less likely to be hospitalized. “The vaccine is out there to limit the severity of disease, so we don’t get the hospitalizations, the oxygen needs that we need. We all know that whether you’ve had COVID before, whether you get the vaccine, you can still get COVID and you still can spread COVID. You don’t tend to get as sick.”
Available tonight were the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines. Doctors say that these brands can safely be mixed when getting first and second shots.
