Lucedale woman accused of embezzling from school fund

A Lucedale woman is behind bars, accused of embezzling funds from a school Parent Teacher Organization fund.

George County Sheriff Keith Havard said 36-year-old Brittney Miller was arrested Wednesday. She faces one count of embezzlement. She posted bond $10,000 bond and has been released from George County jail.

Miller was arrested after an investigation into a complaint of money missing from the Agricola Parent Teacher Organizaqtion.

Investigators determined more than $42,000 was missing from the fund. Investigators say Miller used it for herself.

If convicted, Miller faces a fine of $25,000 and up to 20 years in prison.
