Low turnout at Singing River vaccine event

Singing River Health System has been taking COVID-19 vaccinations on the road this summer to help increase the community’s vaccination rates and stop COVID-19 from claiming more lives.

Today, Singing River Health System set up at Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Ocean Springs to administer the one-shot J&J vaccine and the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

It was a slow morning, but a few people strolled in to receive their vaccination.

Singing River Health System Director of Primary Care Services Jason Ely tells News 25 that although the turnouts have been low at their vaccine events, they are still seeing a steady flow of people at their clinics. “We have been having vaccine events since the vaccine came out several months ago. At the very beginning people were just kind of bombarding us, everybody seemed like they wanted it at that time. As time has gone, we have noticed that the numbers have trickled down some, but the good thing about it is we are now giving vaccines at all ten of our clinics.”

On Thursday, June 25th, Singing River Health System will be at the Shuckers game administering vaccinations. On Friday, June 26th, they will be at the Mississippi Aquarium.
