Low Gas Prices and More Cars on the Road
Gas prices are down and the number of cars on the road is up for the Thanksgiving holiday.
While last year’s Thanksgiving gas prices averaged over $2.50 a gallon, this year the national average is $2.14. According to the American Automobile Association, the prices are only going to get lower. Triple A predicts an average of $2 per gallon by the end of the year.
This Thanksgiving, Triple A says one million more Americans are traveling. News 25 caught up with a woman traveling to Panama City, Florida for the holiday. Barbara Reese said, “It helps the economy. The more people that travel, they stay in motels. They go further off. It helps the economy with lower gas prices.”
The lowest gas prices on the Coast are ringing in on Highway 49 in Gulfport. Circle K, Exxon, Kangaroo and Raceway were all $1.76 per gallon today.
