‘I love my Playground’ Picnic

Disability Connection hosted a free community event for this with disabilities and their families.

The ‘I love my Playground’ Picnic is designed to help those with disabilities to get involved in their community. They planted trees, did arts and crafts, enjoyed music, and played.

Special guests from the University of Iowa Advocacy and Awareness traveled down to help with the project.

Disability Connection Executive Director Janie O’Keefe tells News 25 there’s a limited amount of places where those with disabilities can go to have safe, accessible fun. “Having a playground where they can play is really very valuable for our community. They can’t always play soccer or some of the physical kinds of sports that other kids enjoy. So a public, free playground is very, very special.”
