“Our Love Affair with Baseball” Series

Baseball was back at the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum today as the “Our Love Affair with Baseball” all-star luncheon series continued.
Today’s speaker was Steve Smith, the winningest coach in the history of athletics at Baylor University in Texas.
Smith spent five years playing in the San Francisco Giants organization before going on to coach. He also spent time at Texas A&M and Mississippi State where he coached under college baseball legend Ron Polk. “It’s always been fun to me. The day I signed a professional contract, here in 1983, I remember going out into the driveway and just looking up in the sky and just laughing that somebody was going to pay me to do this. No matter how little or how much it was, somebody was going to pay me to go do something I would’ve done for free.”
The all-star luncheon series will conclude on August 26th when Braves legend Dale Murphy comes to town.
