Louisiana Flood Relief Efforts

One Coast, one relief: that is the initiative the City of Gulfport is taking to help flood victims in Louisiana.
Piles of donated items have been collected at several Gulfport Fire Department stations. These items will be heading to Baton Rouge on Wednesday.
A team of swift water rescue members from the Gulfport Fire Department have already rescued more than 300 people from the rising waters in Louisiana. The team has been there since Saturday.
The relief efforts with the rescue team, along with the donation collection, shows how when natural disasters strike, the Gulf Coast region sticks together. Gulfport Fire Chief Mike Beyerstedt said, “The community support has been fantastic. People here on the Coast, we like to help people out. We’ve been helped out in the past, so we’re just paying it forward.”
You can donate items to any Gulfport Fire Department station or Gulfport City Hall by Tuesday at 6 p.m.
