Louisiana artist pays respects to Lt. Michael Boutte

Fellow brother in blue Rodney King pays his respect to local fallen deputy Lt. Michael Boutte after his death on Monday while on duty.

King is an artist and fellow law enforcement officer who lives in Belle Chasse, Louisiana. After hearing about the death of Lt. Michael Boutte in Hancock County, he decided to use his talent of painting to honor his memory.

Without knowing the man behind the badge, Rodney hopes that his art will bring joy to the family as they battle this hard time.

On Facebook live, he actively painted the portrait, gaining over 4,000 views. “The response is always overwhelming. It’s always very positive and it’s very good to get a positive response from these portraits because times are hard and especially in this situation, it is such a tragedy. But for the community over in Hancock County to come together, it really means a lot. I just felt my part just from a painting. It actually helped me a little bit as well.”

On Friday, King will be delivering the portrait to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.
