Long Beach Soccer’s Nathanial Mink signs with MGCCC

When Long Beach soccer standout Nathaniel Mink committed to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, his Bearcats were in the midst of their fourth consecutive run to the 5A state championship game, finally resulting in the program’s first-ever gold ball.

And that must’ve been a good omen about his future on the pitch, with Mink signing his letter of intent with the Bulldogs this afternoon.

As a center back, Mink was the anchor on the back line and as one of four seniors, he was one of the anchors in the locker room, having been a part of all four state title games.

The former News 25 Student-Athlete of the Week says he always had the confidence to compete at the next level, but there’s something about winning that state crown that gives him closure on his high school career. “Just a relief knowing that I’m going to go to that next level. I’m excited and anxious to get going and to continue my soccer career. I’m definitely going to miss it, but knowing that I have that trophy under my belt is a good feeling.”

In addition to playing for a Long Beach team that went 11-2-1, this season, Mink also plays select For the South Mississippi Soccer Club.

He was even named MVP of the Coast All-Star game back in February.
