Long Beach School District announces Dr. Talia Lock as new superintendent

The Long beach School District Board of Trustees did not have to search long or far for its next superintendent.

Monday night, the five board members approved Dr. Talia Lock to serve as superintendent effective July 1st of this year.

Lock grew up in Long Beach and graduated from Long Beach High in 1995 where she currently serves as principal.

Dr. Lock has served as a teacher, lead teacher, and assistant principal within the school district.

President Tim Pierce said he and the rest of the board have been impressed with Lock since she took the helm at Long Beach High, specifically with her leadership during the pandemic.

The board has directed Dr. Smith and Dr. Lock to immediately begin a transition phase with the district administration to ensure a smooth change in leadership.
