Long Beach police chief prepares for retirement
One person helping out with the cause in Long Beach is longtime Chief of Police Wayne McDowell who is in his last week with the police force before retirement.
His last official day with the police force is Saturday, but he says he will treat this week like any other during his long career.
McDowell graduated from Harrison Central High School and spent his entire life on the Coast. He tells News 25 his plans after his last day later this week. “A lot of good memories and a lot of stress being relieved. Taking some time off, just gonna relax. I have a lot of things around the house I need to do that I’ve been putting off for years.”
Chief McDowell has been Long Beach’s chief of police since 2006. He has been in law enforcement for 28 years.
