Long Beach PD gearing up for ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ campaign

Keeping our roads safe this holiday season, the Long Beach Police Department is gearing up for their ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ Christmas and New Year’s campaign.

Starting on Friday, December 17th through January 1st, 2022, extra officers will be assigned at various times and locations to patrol different checkpoints looking for impaired drivers and seat belt violations.

Long Beach PD urges everyone to drive safely, wear seat belts, and to use a designated driver if consuming any alcohol or medications. Long Beach Police Chief Billy Seal said, “According to the National Highway Traffic Safety, last December, nationwide, 837 people lost their lives in traffic crashes involved in a drunk driver. We’re trying to make sure that doesn’t happen here, make sure everybody is safe and can enjoy the holidays.”

‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ is a national safety campaign carried out across the country by nearly all police departments.
