Long Beach Harbor expansion
The Long Beach Harbor expansion continues to push forward.
The project is in its first stages of being mapped out and city leaders are actively working for funding. The project is designed to give the harbor another 500 feet and provide enough protection from at least minor storms.
City leaders are reaching out to Washington D.C. to help fund the project.
Long Beach Community Affairs Director Jenny Levens says it is going to take a lot of hard work, but it will be worth it once it’s done. “It would be exciting to get this going. It would be a nice expansion for our beach area, for our citizens, and those who come to visit to utilize the harbor.”
Levens goes on to say the expansion of the harbor is not to attract a casino. It’s just to protect small, recreation, and charter boat fishing.
