Locals Take Home Coveted Covey Awards Tues. Night

The stage was set for the Covey Awards Tuesday night, an awards show put on by the Mississippi Gulf Coast’s Observer magazine each year where locals choose the best talent, food, and services the Coast has to offer.

Men and women all arrived in their best attire, excited for the awards to get started. This is the 10th anniversary of the Covey Awards and for the first time, the awards were held in the Beau Rivage Theatre. The awards are all about honoring local businesses on the Gulf Coast. John Ferrucci, General Manager of the Silver Slipper, explains the importance of the Covey Awards for the Coast.

Ferrucci says, “Our goal as a group is to do the best job we can and provide the best service we can so that people will come to the Gulf Coast. This will become the tourist destination that we’ve always dreamt it could be, and so tonight, we get to honor those people who have performed admirably and deserve some special recognition.”

News 25’s own Joe Sullivan and Toni Miles were honored with the chance to present an award at Tuesday night’s event.
