Locally Filmed “Precious Cargo” set for April 22nd Release

The locally filmed movie “Precious Cargo” starring Bruce Willis is set to be released on April 22nd but local city leaders tell News 25 that our chances of seeing it in theaters are slim.
The feature film is getting a day and date release. This means the movie will debut in theaters the same day it goes to video on demand. Some movie theater chains have a policy not to show day and date release movies.
Because of this, community leaders are encouraging all South Mississippians to show support for this movie online, on sites like Rotten Tomatoes, not only to try and get the movie shown in more theaters but to show support for our growing film industry here on the Coast. Gulfport Mayor Billy Hewes said, “We’re encouraging people to go to Rotten Tomatoes, Flickster website and say they want to see it. Fandango may have something as well but just try to bring out some awareness that there’s a lot of excitement about the film. It was a larger budget film for this particular area. It’s a great showcase for our community. We’re proud that they were here. They were a great crew to work with and we’d love them to come back so anything we can do to show community support would be great.”
Community leaders are in the early stages of planning a local premiere of the movie here in South Mississippi.
