Local veteran reflects on D-Day
And people across the country are remembering D-day, including here on the Coast.
Groups like Crusaders for Veterans are remembering World War II veterans and those who died on this day 75-years-ago. It was the largest seaborne invasion in world history where 4,414 allied soldiers died on D-day. Tammy Washburn reflects on this historic day.
“It’s a day of remembrance. I’ve been watching a lot of the stuff on the news about veterans that are going back over to visit 75-years later. I don’t know how they do it,” says Washburn.
President Trump praised the veterans of D-day while speaking in France today, calling them, “Among the very greatest Americans who will ever live.”
